Carroll is suing Trump, who is seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, in two cases in federal court in Manhattan for allegedly defaming her by describing her claims and alleged motivation. One case was filed in 2019, after Trump first denied her allegations, and another was filed this fall after he repeated his claims about her motivation.

In the latest case, she is also suing him for battery, the alleged rape itself, under a new New York state law that opens a one-year window for adults to file sexual assault lawsuits that would otherwise be too old to continue because of the statute of limitations.

During an Oct. 19 briefing at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, which was made public on Wednesday, Trump was shown a photo from the NBC event circa 1987.

The picture shows him from behind, facing Carroll and her then-husband, TV journalist John Johnson, with Trump’s then-wife, who has died Ivana Trump standing to his right.

“That’s Marla,” Trump said of the photo.

Carol’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, said, “Are you saying that Marla is in that picture?”

Trump replied: β€œIt’s Marla, yes. This is my wife.”

Real estate mogul, reality TV star and former potential presidential candidate Donald Trump was first married to former Czech athlete Ivana Trump. After 15 years of marriage, the couple had a very public and very messy divorce in 1992, which cost him . This might discourage a smaller man from dating, but “The Donald” is no shrinking violet. His lawyer, Alina Hubba, then interjected: “No, it’s Carol.”

Trump said, “Oh, I see.”

Kaplan then said, “The person you just pointed to was E. Gene Carroll.”

When Haba repeated to Trump, “That’s Carroll,” Trump replied, “Is that Carroll?”

Elsewhere in the testimony, Trump said of Carol: “She’s not my type.”

“She’s not the kind of woman I’d ever be attracted to,” he added later.

The depositions were attached to court filings last week by Carroll’s attorneys, but became public Wednesday after Trump’s attorneys dropped their opposition to their release.

Last week, Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered other parts of the depositions unsealed, ruling that Trump had no legal basis to keep them public in the case.

Trump married Maples in 1993, a few months after their daughter Tiffany was born. The couple, who had a romantic relationship while Trump was still married to Ivan, divorced six years later.

Trump married his current wife Melania Trump in 2005.

Kaplan scheduled a trial on Carroll’s claims to begin in April.
