1. Vote early: all week

2. Lindsay Heights trunk-or-treat: Monday, Oct. 31
Lindsay Heights residents are invited to this “trunk-or-treat” event organized by Fathers Making Progress. The event includes candy, live music and prizes for the best costume and car with the best decorated trunk. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31 at the intersection of North 17th Street and West Meinecke Avenue.
3. Community forum for School Board District 4 (near North Side and West Side): Wednesday, Nov. 2
Residents of MPS School Board District 4, which is predominantly made up of the West Side and near North Side (map here,) are invited to a community forum with District 4 School Board Director Aisha Carr. Topics of discussion include school safety, job opportunities, voter registration, nutrition, budget updates and more. The forum will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Hopkins Lloyd Community School, located at 1503 W. Hopkins Ave.
4. Noche de Altares: Wednesday, Nov. 2
The citywide Dia de los Muertos celebration continues with this evening of dancing, drumming, bailes folklóricos, a flower-making and papel picado craft station, food trucks and more in joyful remembrance of the dead. The celebration takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Urban Ecology Center location at 3700 W. Pierce. St. Register for free here.
5. Harambee babies unite 2.0: Thursday, Nov. 3
The National Coalition for Healthy Black Families is hosting a discussion on healing practices from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Rise and Grind Cafe, located at 2737 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.
BONUS: Bake sale for incarcerated people: Tuesday, Nov. 1
During the next county budget hearing on Tuesday, there will be a bake sale to raise money for people incarcerated in the Milwaukee County Jail to cover the costs of sanitary items and basic necessities. The bake sale starts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 outside the Marcus Performing Arts Center, located at 929 N. Water St.
