A cat from Great Britain has been recognized as the oldest cat in the world on the eve of its 27th birthday.

As older cats are less likely to be adopted, it seemed that Flossie would spend the rest of her life at Cats Protection. But she was soon adopted by Vicky Green, who cared for four older cats, one of whom lived to be 21 years old.

“She was loud for the first few nights because she couldn’t see in the dark and was a little confused in her new surroundings, but now she sleeps through the night snuggled up on my bed,” Green said.

“She sometimes misses the litter box or needs help to groom herself, but I can help with all of that. We are in this together,” she said.

Despite her inability to hear or see, Flossie is still playful, Green said. She is also in good health and loves to cuddle and eat. “She never turns her nose up at a good meal,” Green said.

“I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat, but I never thought I’d be sharing my home with a world record holder,” she said.
