NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Saturday night, one 14-year-old was injured after shots were fired during a party thrown on Newhall Drive. Police said the address is a rental property.

The reported gunfire happened around 9:30 p.m. Witnesses said the crowd was large, but police say that no one else was injured. The wound is a non-life-threatening graze.

Neighbors tell NewsChannel 5 they heard multiple shots fired which prompted partygoers to run to the front of the yard. It’s a situation that they say shouldn’t have happened.

“It was crazy, you know we hit the floor in our house which we never would have thought of doing in this neighborhood so yeah it was very alarming and terrifying. Not what you expect when you’re about to go to bed,” neighbor Nik Daniel said.

He said the house in question has only been a short term rental for a couple of months, but it’s not the first time that a house party at that address has gotten out of control. Neighbors said they estimate the party drew a crowd of more than 100 people, many of whom were under 18. They said they’ve already reached out to the city’s Codes Department to report the issue.

Police continue to investigate and identify those involved.
