The U.S. recorded the highest level of Covid infection in one day in the last 10 weeks

The United States on Wednesday recorded the highest daily number of Covid cases in the last 10 weeks, indicating the intensity of the latest wave of the pandemic.

The number of people infected with the virus has again exceeded a staggering 100,000 in one day after a pandemic decline across the country since late February.

From a whopping 116,528 new cases, the total number of people infected with the killer bug in the country has risen to 81,620,403, according to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University.

According to the latest estimates of the New York Times, the number of cases has increased by 54 percent in the last two weeks.

Also on Wednesday in the US there was a sharp surge in Covid victims

Deaths from the viral disease have been lower since mid-March and well below the estimate of 1,000 people.

But on Wednesday alone, 1,962 deaths from Covid were recorded in the country, bringing the total number across the country to 996,705.

North Carolina reported the highest number of cases – 13,365 – and the victims – 1,172.

All other Covid indicators in the US show an upward trend.

Over the past two weeks, the number of hospitalizations due to viral disease has increased by 19 percent, while in the same period recorded an increase in admissions to the intensive care unit by 6 percent.

17,887 patients remain in the country’s hospitals for the treatment of the viral disease. Of these, 2018 patients are in the intensive care unit.

80,836,418 people have been cured of the disease, according to Worldometer.

According to the latest figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 219,902,417 Americans, or 66.2 percent of the eligible population, received both doses of the Covid vaccine. That’s 90.3 percent of people over 65.

45.9 percent of the eligible population, or 100,901,425 people, have already received a booster dose, which is recommended to provide additional protection against the killer virus.

An additional 3,975 additional deaths were reported worldwide on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people who have lost their lives due to the pandemic so far to 6,245,354.
