One ring to rule them all! Stories about hobbits and their adventures go back decades.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (better known as JRR Tolkien) wrote The Hobbit in 1937 and The Lord of the Rings in 1954. Of course, a film director Peter Jackson was able to take those two books and turn them into six movies almost 70 years later.
Each film lasts between two and a half to three and a half hours.
But they are worth the time spent in this fantastic country. These movies are incredibly popular, esp The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and with the release of a new TV series inspired by the trilogy, many are flocking to watch these films for the first time. When you’re about to embark on your first trip to Middle-earth, you might not know which order to watch them in.
We recommend watching them in chronological order through the timeline of history, rather than how they were released.
