On Monday, May 27, the United States stock markets will remain closed in observance of Memorial Day. Both the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will resume operations on Tuesday, May 28. Additionally, the U.S. bond market will conclude trading at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, May 24, as per the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Memorial Day, a significant holiday in the United States, honors and remembers the armed forces, originally known as “Decoration Day” since the 1860s. It pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military.
Following the Memorial Day closure, regular business operations will resume on Wall Street until mid-June. The next scheduled closure for the stock market is slated for Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
